Agriculture Ministry to demand quota for supply of Ukrainian beet sugar to EU
14.07.2010 10:53 "Agro Perspectiva" (Kyiv) —
The Ukrainian Agricultural Policy Ministry will continue to insist on the provision to Ukraine of the tariff quota for the supply of Ukrainian beet sugar to European Union countries during negotiations with the EU on signing a free trade agreement, the ministrys press service has reported after a meeting on the situation on the countrys sugar market.
The ministry pledged to promote Ukrainian sugar to foreign markets, in particular, Russia, as well as conduct an analysis and calculations on specific arrangements and a possible amount of Ukrainian sugar to be supplied to the markets in Asian countries.
In August 2010, the Agricultural Policy Ministry will submit for consideration by the concerned central authorities a draft decision on the exclusion of sugar from the regime of free trade with the Republic of Belarus.
The ministry will also take all of the necessary measures on the purchase by the Agrarian Fund of cane sugar under the tariff quota set for 2011.
It was ordered to ensure the purchase of sugar for the state intervention fund taking into account the situation on the market and the financial capacity of the Agrarian Fund.
