Plant-based burger producer Beyond Meat shares decline on stock offering

The shares of the meat alternatives company Beyond Meat (BYND.O) declined 10% at US$199 on this week Tues, a day after the company known for its pea-based burgers and sausages announced a stock offering plan to raise capital just three months after going public, Reuters says referring to the Beyond Meat report.
As to Beyond Meat, it is going to issue 3.25 million new shares, including 3 million shares from selling stockholders.
The El Segundo, California-based company said proceeds from the 250,000 shares offered will be used to expand Beyond Meat output facilities and pay for marketing investments.
It is to be reminded, Beyond Meat shares have surged more than 780% since its this year May IPO as the company’s meat alternatives entered the menus of restaurants such as Carl’s Jr and hit the shelves of grocers, including Kroger Co (KR.N).
As of this week Mon, Beyond Meat beat the Wall Street estimate for revenue within the three months ended this year Jun 29, reporting US$67.3 million in second-quarter sales. It expects US$240 million within 2019 net revenue, up against US$210 million it forecast just last month.
In meanwhile, as to the Mintel research, some 40% of the US consumers are looking to add more plant-based protein to their diet, amid growing concerns about health risks from eating meat, animal welfare and the environmental hazards of intensive animal farming.
