Maryna Poroshenko opens “Learning to Live Together” forum

As of yesterday, while on a working trip to Kharkiv region, President wife Maryna Poroshenko opened the first national forum «Learning to Live Together» dedicated to a multidisciplinary approach to working with children with special educational needs, President Petro Poroshenko Press Office reports.
As to the report, the event was attended by correctional teachers, principals of schools, pre-school institutions, development centers, social workers, parents of children with special educational needs, volunteers of social initiatives, public representatives, UNICEF Representative in Ukraine Giovanna Barberis, Consul General of the Federal Republic of Germany Wolfgang Mössinger, Professor at Hamburg University, Specialist in Breakdown of Learning and Correctional Teaching Processes Joachim Schroeder, and others.
It is to be mentioned, presently international experts and Ukrainian educators admit that Ukraine has made a huge step forward over the recent years in the issue of developing inclusive education.
As to the report, addressing the attendees, Maryna Poroshenko emphasized: «The best indicator of the success of the reform of inclusive education is that since Sept 1, the number of pupils with special educational needs in secondary schools boosted by over 25%. And it is very important that, on this difficult path of change and transformation in the education system, we feel an active support of the President of Ukraine, the Cabinet and the Parliament».
