Ukrainian dairy market

Within reporting week prices on Ukrainian domestic/export dairy products’ markets were dominated mainly by a sideward trend, with purchasers’ activity remaining slack. At same time, Ukrainian dairy products’ producers tried to prevent their sale prices from further lowering (caused mainly by seasonality factor and global market current tendencies). So, within this week some Ukrainian market operators have taken a wait-and-see position in hope for prices’ growth and new sale markets’ finding. However, experts affirm global market dairy products’ prices (and therefore Ukrainian export market dairy products’ prices) can start boosting only since this summer ending and until that time, while global market prices continue going down, Ukrainian domestic/export markets’ prices will remain under pressure.
In meanwhile, within this week Ukrainian domestic market SMP prices ranged within UAH39–42 per kg (unchanged as of last week/down 5.54% as of last month similar); export market SMP prices were US$1,550–1,610 per MT (same as within previous week/up 2.43% as of last month similar). It is to be admitted, within this week Ukrainian SMP export rates remained high — what has prevented country domestic/export markets’ SMP prices from significant fall.
This week Ukrainian home market WMP prices have declined to UAH45–50 per kg (down 0.52% against previous week); external market WMP prices have sagged to US$2,200–2,350 per MT (down 1.09% as of last week). As of this week, Ukrainian home/external markets’ WMP sale rates remained low; Ukrainian producers continued accumulating unsold WMP reserves on their warehouses.
Within reporting week Ukrainian domestic market block butter (72.5% fat, DSTU) prices have slackened to UAH40–42 per kg (down 0.61% against previous week/down 5.88% as of previous month similar); export market block butter (72.5% fat, DSTU) prices were US$2,100–2,400 per MT (same as of last week/down 2.17% against previous month similar). It is to be admitted, within this week Ukrainian domestic market butter demand was down against previous week. Experts admit within last few weeks Ukrainian producers succeeded to enlarge their export sales’ geography thus gradually reducing domestic market pressure. Besides, producers continued putting their butter into winter storage. However, so far Ukrainian domestic market remains as earlier influenced by low demand and seasonal high output.
At same time, within this week Ukrainian domestic market cheese prices were UAH72–78 per kg (same as of last week/up 1.69% against previous month similar); export market prices ranged within US$3,400–4,000 per MT (unchanged against previous week). In meanwhile, this week Ukrainian domestic/export markets’ cheese demand remained unchanged.
As of this week, Ukrainian domestic market casein prices have dipped to UAH100–110 per kg (down 0.94% against previous week/down 7.08% as of last month similar); export market prices have sagged to US$4,200–4,400 per MT (down 2.27% as of last week/down 7.40% against previous month similar). Experts admit prices’ decline on Ukrainian domestic/export markets has been caused mainly by global market current tendency and domestic seasonality factor. It is to be mentioned, within this week Ukrainian domestic/export markets’ casein offer has grown against previous week.
Within reporting week Ukrainian domestic market demineralized whey prices were UAH11,70–12,50 per kg (unchanged against previous week/down 2.81% as of last month similar); export market prices ranged within US$435–500 per MT (same as of last week/down 1.97% as of previous month similar). At same time, within this week Ukrainian domestic market classic whey prices were UAH10,20–10,80 per kg (unchanged against previous week/down 3.07% as of last month similar); export market prices equaled to US$400–410 per MT (same as of last week/down 0.46% as of last month similar). Within this week purchasers’ activity on Ukrainian domestic/export markets remained unchanged (demineralized whey demand being low and classical whey demand — slightly up).
This week Ukrainian inner market GOST canned milk prices remained UAH11,8–14,0 per can (380 gr), unchanged against previous week.
