Ukrainian dairy market

As earlier, within this week dairy products’ prices on Ukrainian domestic/export markets were mainly declining. However, as of this week, prices’ decline was somewhat restricted by UAH/US$ exchange rate lowing. Experts admit within this week Ukrainian dairy products’ producers tried to restrict their domestic market ready products’ sale rates (even despite demand seasonal growth) in anticipation for higher sale prices. At same time, due to global market dairy products’ prices continuous decline, traders were in no hurry to buy Ukrainian dairy products in an effort to get higher discounts. It is to be admitted, within this week domestic market resources’ prices still remained rather high (even after having recently had somewhat declined). Within this week RF Rosselkhoznadzor (Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance) has permitted 2 Ukrainian producers, Gadiachsyr Ltd and Lozivskiy Dairy Plant Ltd, to import their dairy products to RF. It is to be admitted, this permission so far still hasn’t influenced dairy products’ prices on Ukrainian domestic/export markets. However, experts admit this permission can become a beginning of Ukraine/RF dairy products’ trade resumption.
In meanwhile, this week Ukrainian domestic market SMP prices have sagged to UAH41–44 per kg (down 1.16% as of last week/down 10.81% as of last month similar); export market SMP prices, however, remained US$1,500–1,580 per MT (unchanged as of last week/down 6.10% as of last month similar). As of this week, SMP purchasers’ activity on Ukrainian domestic/export markets’ remained low.
As earlier, within this week Ukrainian producers continued to boost their unsold SMP reserves due to seasonality factor; however, experts admit these reserves so far haven’t become critically high. It is to be admitted, within this week some SMP producers agreed to sell their ready products on domestic market just at UAH39 per kg (due to being in acute need of circulating means and owing to their SMP quality being not high enough). In meanwhile, Ukrainian SMP big producers as earlier continued to place big hopes on export market sales.
In meanwhile, this week Ukrainian home market WMP prices have dropped to UAH45,5–50 per kg (down 0.52% as of last week); external market WMP prices ranged within US$2,250–2,400 per MT (unchanged against previous week). As earlier, within this week Ukrainian domestic market cheese purchasers’ activity remained slack — but that didn’t hamper Ukrainian producers to boost their domestic market sale prices thanks to export market US$ prices being relatively high. As of previous, within this week Ukrainian export cheese market was dominated by west European countries’ strong competition.
As of this week, Ukrainian domestic market casein prices have dropped to UAH107–115 per kg (down 0.89% against previous week/down 9.39% as of last month similar); export market prices have slumped to US$4,300–4,800 per MT (down 0.55% as of last week/down 12.50% against previous month similar). As earlier, within this week Ukrainian domestic/export casein markets’ offer was up against demand due to seasonality factor. As of previous, within this week Ukrainian export casein market demand remained low.
As of this week, Ukrainian domestic market demineralized whey prices have lowed to UAH12,00–12,80 per kg (down 0.80% against previous week/down 9.82% as of last month similar); export market prices have dropped to US$455–500 per MT (down 0.52% as of last week/down 10.16% as of previous month similar). As earlier, within this week Ukrainian canned milk producers continued actively spreading their sales’ foreign geography (esp. in African countries) — what has become possible thanks to weak hryvnia and Ukrainian canned milk quality being up against Malaysian one.
