Ukrainian dairy market

Within this week dairy products’ prices on Ukrainian domestic/export markets have significantly declined against previous week. Experts admit within this week Ukrainian domestic market participants have resumed activity after recent May holidays — but, at same time, unsold dairy products’ reserves (which had got accumulated on producers’ warehouses within long-lasting May holidays) have pressed domestic market prices. Besides, some domestic market dairy products’ prices have appeared to be down against export market similar — what, together with domestic market low demand, has additionally pressed down domestic market dairy products’ prices. It is to be admitted, domestic market prices’ lowing has been also supported by UAH/US$ exchange rate slight strengthening (up 2.2% against previous week).
In meanwhile, this week Ukrainian domestic market SMP prices have sagged to UAH42–44 per kg (down 4.44% as of last week/down 9.76% as of last month similar); export market SMP prices have declined to US$1,500–1,580 per MT (down 0.65% as of last week/down 6.10% as of last month similar). Experts admit within this week it was more profitable for Ukrainian SMP producers to make sales on domestic market than on export market (even despite domestic market prices’ decline) — what, in turn, has stimulated domestic market gradual offer growth (together with seasonality factor and shortening of shipments made up to earlier concluded profitable contracts). However, at same time, domestic market SMP prices were pressed down by unsold dairy products’ reserves having had got accumulated on producers’ warehouses (due to May holidays) and owing to fact of domestic market purchasers’ activity remaining low.
At same time, this week Ukrainian domestic market WMP prices have lowed to UAH46–50 per kg (down 3.03% as of last week); export market WMP prices have slackened to US$2,250–2,400 per MT (down 2.11% against last week). As of this week, Ukrainian WMP output continued growing; some Ukrainian producers have succeeded to sell their ready products on export market.
Within reporting week Ukrainian domestic market block butter (72.5% fat, DSTU) prices have sagged to UAH42,5–45 per kg (down 4.37% against previous week/down 10.07% as of last month similar); export market block butter (72.5% fat, DSTU) prices were US$2,300–2,400 per MT (unchanged against previous week/down 4.35% against previous week). As earlier, within this week Ukrainian domestic/export markets’ butter prices remained pressed down by high domestic unsold butter reserves and output growth. Experts admit within this week Ukrainian domestic market purchasers’ activity remained slack.
This week Ukrainian domestic market cheese prices have improved to UAH68–78 per kg (up 1.39% against previous week); export market prices remained US$3,400–4,000 per MT (unchanged as of previous week). In meanwhile, within this week Ukrainian domestic market cheese purchasers’ activity remained slack; export market demand also was low (due to global market high competition). Experts say within this week domestic cheese output high cost price has appeared to be domestic market main driver. It is to be admitted, within this week Ukraine export market cheese prices remained up against domestic market similar. Within this week Ukrainian domestic cheese output remained high due to seasonality factor — what stimulated unsold cheese reserves’ growth on domestic producers’ warehouses.
This week Ukrainian domestic market casein prices have slackened to UAH109–115 per kg (down 7.82% against previous week/down 8.57% as of last month similar); export market prices have fallen to US$4,350–4,800 per MT (down 7.58% as of last week/down 12.02% against previous month similar). Experts say prices’ decline has been caused mainly by domestic casein reserves’ growth (stimulated by domestic casein output seasonal boost, domestic market purchasers’ activity slackening within May holidays and export market low demand).
Within reporting week Ukrainian domestic market demineralized whey prices have declined to UAH12,00–13,00 per kg (down 1.96% against previous week/down 9.09% as of last month similar); export market prices have lowed to US$460–500 per MT (down 0.52% as of last week/down 9.69% as of previous month similar). Within this week Ukrainian domestic market classic whey prices have sagged to UAH10,00–10,40 per kg (down 0.49% against previous week/down 14.29% as of last month similar); export market prices have lowed to US$400–415 per MT (down 0.61% against previous week /down 9.44% as of last month similar). As earlier, within this week purchasers’ activity on Ukrainian domestic/export whey markets remained slack. Domestic producers’ whey unsold reserves remained big, continuing to boost up.
At same time, this week Ukrainian inner market GOST canned milk prices remained UAH11,8–14,1 per can (380 gr), unchanged as of last week.
